ISLAND TV VIDEO ARCHIVE

Welcome to the project that's been occupying a lot of my recent free time! A complete* archive of Island TV videos! Island TV run from 2019.03.01 to 2023.12.25, and the videos on the website will become unavailable after 2023.12.31. I decided to work on preserving an archive of all the videos available, which I scraped from the website using a script I wrote that ensured the source quality of the files was preserved. This entry includes links and instructions both to download everything and, for the particularly kind souls, how to help preserve these videos long term.

* "complete" in this case means everything that was present on the website from November 2023 onwards, which excludes the Jr. who left the agency prior to that and had their videos removed (such as IMPACTors or Ohigashi Ritsuki) but does include debuted groups whose videos were still there (SixTONES, Snow Man, Naniwa Danshi, and Travis Japan.)

THE VIDEOS

There were a total of 14814 Island TV videos as of 23.12.25 for a total of 345 GB. This number does not match the one displayed on the Island TV website itself for two reasons: "duplicate" videos (two separate web pages displaying the same video file) and mistagged Youtube videos that are being counted on the Island TV tag instead.

The video files are all named according to this scheme:
(UPLOAD DATE) TITLE [TAGS]
the data was scraped from the web pages and files themselves and was not manually edited.
This does mean all the tags are in Japanese, but a simple Google search will help you find the names you need in case you can't read them.

These were created by using the search function on the full folder and I did not manually review each video. There might be some extraneous ones due to the title containing the group name even though no members are featured.

HOW TO HELP

Do you want to help preserve long term these videos, either in full or partially? Awesome! Simply reupload the videos, without editing them in any way, and leave a comment on this entry with a link to the folder, and I will add it to this entry with credit! If you are planning to reupload the archive only in part, my only request is that it be all the videos of a specific tag (so for example, all the videos tagged "美 少年" or all the videos tagged "浮所飛貴".)

Do you want to chip in some money to keep the full archive on Mega run longer? I will be fronting the costs for a few months, but afterwards only the partial archives will be available (however, I will ensure every single video is reuploaded nonetheless). RULES?

- If you are planning to reupload and/or help preserve these files long term, do not edit them, especially the file names. This way at any point in the future people will be able to put together the full archive again even by using separate partial reuploads!
